TCU compared to UNT (University of North Texas)?

I cannot speak for UNT but TCU has a very active Film Television and Digital Media program. The campus is very greek but there is definitely places for non-greeks like myself. Since the football and baseball team have been ranked very highly, school spirit on campus is amazing. In fact, the whole city of fort worth has practically turned purple. It's a great place to be right now. The on-campus housing is pretty nice compared to state school campuses. Also, the cafeteria is the best one i've seen in a university. The gossip I've heard about UNT is that it used to be great but isn't anymore. That it is only good for music students. And I've heard it nicknamed "High School College". That's all gossip. But I am proud to be a horned frog!

i have lost 60 pounds in the past 6 months. Since then, i have been getting several complements in which i gained great confidence. Although i am told i look great, i personally am not where i would like to be, and have plans to loose an additional 20lb. unfortunately, last month i had surgery in which i was unable to conduct my daily workouts. After a long recover, the doc finally gave me the go ahead to work out. The problem is, i cant find the motivation or drive that i had in myself while losing the original 60 lbs. You can't minor in graduate school. You're only studying one subject at that point. If you don't want to study business that much (and who could blame you? More than 20% of college students are majoring in business) then you need to be wiling to finance the rest of your education yourself. Keep in mind a business major leaves you few options for grad school, most of them business related.

I have no support. I'm not complaining, but it's difficult to remain motivated when you have no one to keep you going. Whether you fail or not, it's only yourself your damaging. And if you're like me, you really don't care. I want to care, but I don't... at least not enough. Here's the catch: I'd like to lose 50lbs. I'm a medium-framed female, 5'7", 180lbs approx. Eating healthy isn't the issue. I can control myself there... when I care to. I don't eat dairy - dairy is miserable for you. Look it up if you don't believe me. Example diet plan - no dairy please? Simple exercise plan? I can get access to a gym, but it won't be for about two months. I have a 10lb weight and two 5lb weights. I can't exercise outside, I get heat sickness VERY easily. I'm not just complaining - I literally puke and break out in rashes. Once I get on this plan, how can I remain motivated to keep going. I really want to for my health mostly. I have no confidence issues.:) Sex would be nice for exercise, but I'm not getting that right now... SO. Help? I want to start ASAP, but I don't want to if I know it will just fail. I think all you can do now is behave like the professional you are. You dont owe this woman anything from the personal point of view, and she does owe you a professional performance at work. Disregard what you see as the elephant in the room. What she may mistakenly believe about you is her own problem, and it is not up to you to explain anything. Tell her, as an employee, which she is, that she needs to pull her weight and get organized for the presentation, or it will have professional and career repercussions. Tell her you value her abilities, but that you cant overlook the fact that she is jeopardising the whole project by not working to the high standards she is capable of, and that she needs to apply herself immediately to rectifying this. It's not a personal issue, it's a professional one. I get the same pay check as other people of the same rank no matter how much work I do. Also, I hate kissing butt and being fake. I'm irish. You can get tea in australia in irish pubs and irish shops on internet. I imagine in england would be the same. Just try irish pubs and google on line for irish foods you might get it that way. My favourite irish tea is Barrys Gold Blend Tea. It's in red box. When i come overseas i even bring tea with me or get it posted over as it expensive to buy in the pub. Also i drink it with lil bit milk. Tea leaf tea is best but the tea bag will do when abroad. A lot of irish definitely have milk with it. Depends if they like it hot or not. I don't put sugar in it. Some do some don't. Depends on the individuals tastes. Hope that helps a bit. Ok so im like realllly out of shape. I'm 13 and about 104 pounds and my legs and arms are like twigs but my tummy is reallly fat and flabby and i have like 6 folds and its just really frustrating. Screenwriting, which program is better? Final Draft 8 or Movie Magic Screenwriter 6.0?

Well, I've been using Final Draft for years. I've never used Magic Screenwriter, but apparently Final Draft is like the top software for screenwriting.. It's amazing. I've never had one problem with it and it's incredibly easy to use and master. Other professional screenwriters use Final Draft. I would highly recommend it to any serious writer..

Do private colleges actually pay for tuition?

I'm going to be a senior next year and I'm applying to colleges this fall. I was wondering if when private schools like Harvard and Stanford, well, when they say that they will pay for tuition, does that actually happen? To be honest I probably have a chance at one of the "brand name" schools, but for some reason I feel like I shouldn't go to one. It just feels like one of those things that's only popular due to its name and these schools use this power to attract students. I don't think they are actually worth it and I don't know if undergraduate matters to future employers. Does it? Hii. I'm Sierra, and my BMI is obese. I weigh about 230 lbs. and I'm 5'5". I tried really hard at one point, but all my mom buys is junk food because she has a problem and can't lose weight, so she doesn't try. I love fruits and vegetables, well some veggies. Consider the watching of movies your film school. Definitely watch Pulp Fiction and look at how the narrative structure was done in that. Don't take a course. Write something for someone e.g. the friend who will be willing to put it in a film festival and see how it goes from there. Maybe wait for that film festival to happen though.

Inventing an assistive device, any requests?

What would help me the most is to get some feedback from anyone who has a disability that is limited in participating in daily activities. I am in an assistive technology course and our assignment is to invent a device that would bridge that gap. My goal is to be able to take your requests and design something that would be specific to your needs. It can be any disability and any request that is sincere. Just to get an idea of what I am trying to do here's an example that has already been done. A man who was an avid bowler had a spinal cord injury which caused limited function of the muscles in his hands. He has a good amount of weakness but still could move his hands pretty good. Someone designed a ramp that could be used from sitting in his wheelchair. He positions it just in place and has his teammate hold it in place by the handles installed at the top. The ball was positioned at the top of the ramp and he would use his hands to propel it down the ramp. He would make strike after strike! It was amazing to see this and it has really motivated me to learn other areas of need. Would love to hear from you!

I just finished my freshman year at a major state run university with a good GPA, and a double major in Political Science and English. My original major was English and Film Studies, my intent was to go to grad school at either USC, UCLA or NYU and receive a MA in film with the hope of screenwriting and directing Television and Film. I backed out of Film Studies but kept the English Major, and added Political Science. I am good at political science classes and my political science department at my university is really, really good. What I fear about life and what I will become after college is some middle ranking employee at some law firm or company living on a salary between $50k and $100k with a ranch house in the suburbs, working until I retire at age 65 and then buying a RV or playing golf until the day I die wondering what I did with the last 40 years of my life. I want to leave a legacies more than anything, the whole reason I wanted to become a director and screenwriter was to leave my films for future generations, look how people still love the film Casablanca nearly 70 years after it hit theaters. Now I'm considering getting rid of my English Major and adding Psychology with the goal being a PhD in Neuroscience, I like neuroscience but I don't know if that's what I want to do with my life. One thing I enjoy doing is building websites but I don't want to do that for a living unless I was the CEO of my own website, kind of like Mark Zuckerberg, I would never want to sit in a cubical and program computers all day every day. I think my biggest problem is that my interest change rapidly, I mean just last year I planned on majoring in Physics or Math, I feel like I could major in anything at my university which is a problem. I have spent my entire life so far studying thousands of books and manuals. My friends all seem happy with the careers they hope to one day have, for instance one of my friends is going to for an MBA starting in the fall. Now I don't know what to do and I'm going to be a sophomore in the fall with no idea what to do with my life, all I know is I don't want to be just another average person to live life to just simply exist then die.

I'm going a little nutzo over here. I've been in the rewite process for nearly a year and I told myself that I wouldn't move on to my next idea (which I'm dying to get into) until I finish my current project. Basically, my problem is that I have everything outlined, everything mapped out, everything fits into the guidelines and plot points of where things should be, and it's still too long. I'm aiming for 120 pages (as every screenwriter does) and I always get somewhere around 140-150, and that's even after shaving off scenes, cutting out long descriptions, conversations, and phantom lines, and all that stuff. I don't know what else to do, becuase if I cut any more out, the story loses its cohesive quality. Anybody ever dealt with this? How on earth did you solve it?

Will printing on red paper or with red ink prevent photocopying?

Red ink on white paper is very easily copied or scanned. Black ink on red paper is also quite readily photocopied or scanned if the right equipment / imaging software is used. I would not bother with such childish and petulant attempts at theft protection. A large number of busy professionals in all industries find ease of reading far preferable to anything else where submitted items are concerned, red paper with black ink is quite tiring to read so I would say that if you do this it will most probably not only look childish and petulant but will be thrown away as not worth the bother. Stick to clearly printed black ink on pale pastel coloured or white paper. If you are still worried that your amazing ideas are going to be stolen then I am afraid that copyrighting or having legal bods write up papers of authorship is the only further protection.

Your work out plan sounds pretty good, but you also need to keep in mind that you'll need to nap after you do that exercise. The body needs sleep to create the muscle and remove the fat. Or something along those lines.

If you're registered for school, do you know what classes you're taking? Do you already have the books? You can study ahead, then when you're in the classes you'll feel more comfortable with the material. That's something to do. Or study ahead for next semester's classes. See if you can find some friends that go to the local park or beach or whatever and hang out with them. Go walking, running, swimming, something like that! See if your school or a local community college has non-credit classes that you can take in things you're interested in (like karate) until you get your real classes... go roller skating, hang out with the plants outside, something!!! Actually just sitting outside with plants and/or water can be very peaceful.

Im going through an existential crisis?

I maybe only 19 but time goes by fast but i feel worthless. Most of K-12 i was pretty mediocre and got grades just to get by and left high school last year with mostly C's in my accumulative (especially math and science) But when i look at my brother who's only 2yrs older got A and B's as long as i can remember in everything and got accepted into the University of Maryland , while i currently attend community college. I've always been chubby every since I was little, but it was never an issue until I got to high school. I've always had low self-esteem because I would compare myself to the other girls. I can always randomly motivate myself to work out but I can never do a full exercise program on TV I would always stop and give up. Hi, i just lost 80 pounds, but i'm having a little trouble here?

for as long as i was born i used to always be fat up until last year when i finally got the courage to motivate myself to get thin. Well i went from 278 to 198 in 8 months which i felt was very quick by the way but i was happy. Now i look great buttt i still have something left around my lower stomache. I don't know if it's stretched out skin or if it's still some fat left. Everytime i go to do a pushup i can see in the mirror that it just sags down towards the floor, not my whole stomache just the middle part where i have stretchmarks. I've run into the same problem. But if you really think about it, a lot of movies are only slightly different in premise from many others. A truly original film is actually kind of rare. Just put your own voice into your writing, and don't be distracted by other films. Chances are it will turn out fine, and probably more original than you think.

Why have I become so lazy?

I know it seems like I just don't care but I do. Lately I have become really lazy and my grades have been taking a really hard hit. When my grades are bad I feel like I suck and I'm worthless and all I want to do is just go to sleep and forget about everything because only when I'm asleep I forget of how much of a failure am I. I look around at my classmates and they all seem to be doing fine and understand what's going on, then I look at myself and feel like i'm an idiot. I've always been the smart straight A's student but now I've been really falling behind for some reason. I am always really stressed since I have to excel at every single class at school if I want to get all A's and get into Med School and lately I've been thinking i'm too stupid to actually succeed, the MCAT just seems far out of my reach and yet I need to learn all of it and do great in it if I ever want to feel better about myself. Sometimes I want to change this and just study all day but I can't. Even if I slept all day and night I just don't feel like doing anything at all and feel like if I was very tired. It's not that I want to do something else like watch TV or play videogames, I don't even feel like doing any of those things that used to be fun at all anymore. I just don't feel like doing anything at all, boring or fun makes no difference. I don't feel motivated and I feel like i'm worthless and too stupid to achieve what I want yet when I try to change it I only end up feeling worse about myself because I tried and failed which makes things worse. Parents: Would you let your child do this?

Ok, first off I'm 15. My parents are letting me do this acting thing over the summer. It involves me staying out until 2am but I'm in good care and for the performances my father has to be there anyway. Now my dilemma is that I want to do this during the school year too, and I know that this seems pretty much out of the question but let me give an argument. The performances are only on every other weekend, on Friday and Saturday so I would not be missing any school. I would make sure my grades don't slip below an A or I would promise to quit. I would show my parents all my homework so they could see it was done and that I wasn't slacking off. The rehearsals are on Sunday, but are only until 8. I usually don't have anything outside of school so this would be a great thing for me to look forward to and motivate me to do well in school. So that pretty much concludes my argument. Serious Health Question?

My dad has had this chronic cough for about 8 months now. He is about 70 pounds overweight, drinks too much beer, smokes, and eats awfully. I know you can't give me a diagnosis, but what do you think this cough could indicate? I'm looking to print some things out for him to read so that it will motivate him to lose weight, stop smoking and drinking so much and eat better. I know he has high cholesteral, he snores very loudly and his feet hurt a lot. Is it normal for parents to do this?

Is it normal for a parent to tell one child to not end up like their older sibling? When writing a screenplay, is it appropriate to describe the manner in which a character delivers a line?

That's really the Director's job, to interpret how the character/actor should express the line. You can put an OCCASIONAL comment like you show here, but don't overdo it. Some Directors are offended by too much "help" from the screenwriter, who by the way is seen as the lowest on the food chain in the film industry anyway! Just be careful!

Identity Protection: Hollywood Industry or/vs. Air Force Service?

I'm considering going into the Air Force, while at the same time pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice so that I can go into Federal government with a TON of experience. It was a really great concept, I have to say. Jolie was great, but seriously- the storyline was so unrealistic, I just wanted to punch the screenwriter in the face. Basic synopsis: Evelyn Salt kills like 100-something people including the president of the United States (by herself, I might add) while she tries to escape conviction after BETRAYING HER COUNTRY (with no master plan or anything- just by beating people up). Finally when a dude catches her, he's basically like "Get outta here, ya little rascal. Just don't do it again." and watches as PUBLIC ENEMY #1 escapes.

Hi I went in for an interview at Earls (restaurant) on thursday. It went very well and he told me he was going to put me on the schedule for next week (this week now) and I'd most likely have an orientation on wednesday. He wanted me to email him on the weekend about availability and he would respond with my schedule. I did so on saturday, and there was no response and I sent another this morning and the same thing. I called in this afternoon and he told me it was busy today but don't worry it's on his to-do list for today. I can't help but be a little anxious when I was told I was going in tomorrow yet I've been left in the dark and now it's 10:30 PM the night before??

I can't get motivated to work out and stop drinking sodas. Help me!?

Well for starters, I'm a 15 year old guy and I'm around 15% body fat. I've been wanting to trim down and build more muscle for a while now but just can't get motivated to stop drinking soda. And it doesn't help that my entire family is overweight and my mom buys 2-4 12-packs of coke a week. Really what I'm asking here is a little help with getting motivated. I already do around 6 hours of cardio a week and eat right everyday (minus the soda).

Teen starting her first job, who pays for what?

My daughter just graduated HS less then a month ago, she just landed her first job, she will work as much as she is needed during the summer and once college starts, she will only work part time...school will come first . The question is this: Should she be buying for the majority, if not ALL her clothes, entertainment? She is not yet 18, will be in a few months. We argued about this because I have always bought all her clothes, everything she has needed. I will be contributing to her 1st car. I will be giving her apprx 3k towards her car, IF she shows me she can keep this job and save her portion for her car (she needs to save 2-3k) she already has a checking account and is motivated to save. When she starts college in the fall, I will be paying for her classes. Currently she was added to our auto insurance and I told her I would pay for her insurance, however once she buys her own car, she will have to pay for her insurance. She somehow still thinks that I NEED to buy her most of her clothes/makeup,etc.. her words "It's not fair"! I feel since she will be working, she will now be capable of buying most of her own clothing. I do not ask for her to contribute to the household bills whatsoever. I do think she should be respons. for her own clothing and insurance once she buys her car and adds it to my policy. Am I wrong?

I was to get in shape but I have no motivation to do so?

I'm 5'7" and around 135lbs. I understand that for my height, I am at a normal weight. I don't want to lose weight, I just want to improve my health. I rarely exercise and get tired fast when I try, and I lose motivation. It's hard to eat healthy because my parents say it's too expensive, so I eat a lot of processed and canned ****. How to be motivated and stop being lazy?

Get a giant corkboard and put a calendar on there as well as a list of goals. For example if you want to work out an hour a day put that on there, or apply to college, learn a new skill, etc etc. However, don't just put them up there because then it's easy to put them off, you have to make a timeline as to when you want to have each goal accomplished. Once you have accomplished a goal you will feel pretty good about yourself and it will make you more motivated to accomplish more. You can start simple, for example, get out of bed by 10 am each morning and work your way up to more complex things.

What would be a good small pet for me?

I have had rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and rats. I used to have a lot of rabbits but found homes for all except one because they are a lot of work, but I do love my little Holland Lop ''Bucky.'' He is the sweetest rabbit ever and he follows me round the yard and lies with me in the shade. I think me an him have the strongest bond out of all my pets. Since he isn't neutered (he is 5 years old now and I was worried he would be too old) he sometimes has his ''moments'' which is bothersome but understandable and I never get mad at him but my next rabbit I will get younger and have neutered. I have a guinea pig named Panda and I know they need company so I have been trying to find a single female guinea pig that I can adopt in Eugene, OR without much success. I love Panda and I like to hold her and give her veggies on my lap. I love her soft squeaks (and LOUD squeaks) and she is cute. However she will not get any exercise unless motivated by veggies, so I have to give her veggies to her by spreading them all over her giant pen so she has to run around and get them. So I love holding her and watching her but sometimes it is hard to tell if she enjoys being held and petted or not. I adopted 2 rats from my local humane society. I love them dearly, but they are females and pretty active. They aren't as interested as being rubbed/scratched or held as some of my other females have been. However they ares still cute and fun and they love coming up and getting treats during play time, I just wish they were a little more snuggly/affectionate. So after reading all that in the future what would be good pets for me? I like pets that are openly affectionate and show their love for you similar to a dog. I am thinking of only having 1 or 2 animals from now on so care/cleaning ect. doesn't seem like too much and so that I don't have to worry as much about a pet being too much work because I won't have so many. I was thinking maybe male rats? Any other suggestions are helpful and you can provide care information as well.

SCREENWRITERS: i have a question.........?

Ask yourself where you want to take this screenplay and go there. Don't force it, but waiting can take forever. I can't even tell you how many times I waited for a good idea to come to me only to be stuck with nothing for months. Get a general idea of what you want it to be like. The genre and maybe even the amount of characters. Simple things. Then build up from them. Try to grasp inspiration from your everyday life. Focus on things you normally wouldn't focus on. Certain noises, scents, sights. I know this sounds stupid, but it forces your mind to read between the lines. This allows you to throw away the things you don't need and focus on the world in an entirely different view. Focus. And I idea will come soon. When you force something like that upon yourself, it doesn't come out as good as it could be. It ends up being like a school project--something you may not necessarily enjoy, but you have to do it anyway. Make sure you let people know you love what you're doing. Your passion should show in your work.
