Film producers: What are the benefits of hiring a guild member? / union actor/director/screenwritter?

I am working on a feature with a 100K budget, its my first feature and i don't understand the guilds and unions yet; what are the benefits of me, as a producer, to hire a guild member or a union member? (director, actor or screenwriter?)... thanks
