Learning a Second Language?

After returning from Europe for a backpacking trip, I'm itching to learn another language. I want to learn a language that appeals to me, as well as the culture, so Ill keep motivated. Ive narrowed it down to Dutch or German. My question is, based on the fact that my native tongue is english, which one would be easier to learn?
